My fascination with color started from the moment I first opened my eyes. I was born in Puerto Rico, an island full of color, history and inspiration. Being the daughter of an architect, art came as a natural process. Big sheets of paper, crayons, markers, pencils, and pens were always at hand, so I did my first scribbles as soon as I could grab a pencil. As a child I took art classes at a studio for about 3 years. I started with lessons in pencil and charcoal drawing, followed by oil pastels. When I was ready to start painting in watercolor, I got so scared that my teacher allowed me to skip it and go directly into oils.
In high school I took art as an elective course. But as soon as college started I had better things in my mind, like studying and partying - I know these do not go together, but it worked somehow. On the last year of my masters (2001), I found art again as a good stress reliever. Afterwards, I moved from Boston, MA to West Palm Beach, FL to start my career as a civil engineer.
By late 2003, I decided it was time to overcome my fear of watercolor. I have not stopped working with watercolor since then. It is a very exciting and challenging medium, and I am learning and enjoying its behavior every day. Water just has a life of its own!
